About Code Black

Code Black carried hardstyle across hemispheres. Corey Soljan, born 1987 in Sydney, first travelled the world as half of Bioweapon alongside Audiofreq, found his success in the Netherlands (the genre’s heartland) and struck out alone in 2011.

Solo lift-off

Signed to Fusion Records at the end of 2011, his first solo single ‘Red Planet’ hit immediately. From there Code Black became a fixture of the euphoric wing: soaring melodies and clean, festival-scale production, played out at Mysteryland, Tomorrowland, Hard Bass, Decibel and both editions of Defqon.1: the Netherlands and his native Australia.

Two shades of black

He never abandoned the dark side entirely: alongside occasional rawstyle productions, in 2023 he debuted Blackout, a deliberately rougher project, on the wasteLAND stage at EDC Las Vegas. And in 2025 Bioweapon returned, announcing ‘Time Capsule’, a 14-track album reviving the old familiar hardstyle sound.

The Aussie connection

Code Black remains the reference point for Australian hardstyle’s global breakthrough, in the melodic company of peers like Sound Rush and KELTEK. ‘Gravity’ (2026) currently leads his Spotify catalogue in HDRR’s tracking.
