Biography

The story

  1. 2019

The Hard Dance Release Radar goes live.

  2. 2026

First release as HDRR: Higher Than the Sky.

  3. Next

Hard techno, rawstyle, and maybe some jump.

HDRR is two things under one name: a hard dance producer, and the release radar that tracks the whole genre.

All of hard dance

HDRR covers hard dance in the broad sense rather than one corner of it: happy hardcore at one end, industrial hardcore at the other, and rawstyle, hard techno, drum and bass and hardstyle with every branch that has grown off it in between.

Both halves of the project work that way. The radar sorts the whole genre rather than a favourite slice of it, and the releases are meant to move around it just as freely.

The radar, 2019

The Hard Dance Release Radar exists because Spotify's own Release Radar lands once a week, on a Friday, and is shaped by what you already play. That is no use to anyone who wants the whole genre rather than more of the same.

So it does the opposite: every new hard dance release on Spotify, picked up the day it appears, sorted by genre into playlists that refresh daily.

What came out of that was never part of the idea. Because the radar sorts by genre and release date rather than by hype, a release from an artist nobody has heard of sits in the same playlist as one from a festival headliner, on the same day, in the same order. For a scene where discovery usually runs through the same handful of big labels, that is a genuinely different way in.

Releasing as HDRR, 2026

Running the radar since 2019 means hearing everything the scene puts out, every single day. In 2026 the name stopped being only a listening tool: the first release under HDRR went out on Spotify on 31 July.

What comes after it is deliberately unfocused. Hard techno is on the list, so is rawstyle, and so is jump, which is overdue some attention. The one thing that will not happen is settling into a single subgenre because it is easier to market. HDRR listens across all of hard dance and intends to release across all of it.

The release radar

Alongside the music, HDRR runs the Hard Dance Release Radar: every new hard dance release on Spotify, tracked the day it lands and sorted into free genre playlists that update daily. It is where all of this started, and it still runs every morning.
