Gezellige Uptempo

Gezellige Uptempo are one of the breakout live acts in uptempo hardcore, a Dutch collective that wraps some of the harshest, fastest music in the scene inside the friendliest possible name. That contrast is the whole point, and it has helped them stand out in a genre that usually markets itself on aggression alone.

The friendliest name in a brutal genre

‘Gezellig’ is a famously untranslatable Dutch word, roughly cosy or convivial, the feeling of a good time shared with good company. Bolting it onto uptempo hardcore, one of dance music’s most extreme styles, is a joke that doubles as a mission statement: the sets are brutal, but the room is meant to feel like a party among friends. On stage the collective leans on rapid-fire mixing and constant crowd interaction.

Festival stages

The act broke through fast on the Dutch festival circuit, landing sets across the 2024 season at Defqon.1’s indoor UV stage, the Decibel Outdoor mainstage and the Dynamite stage at Intents, among others. That run turned a studio project into one of the most talked-about live uptempo names.

Fast, funny and prolific

Their catalogue keeps pace with the live show, from ‘Jumptempo’, ‘Bouncezaag’ and ‘Uptempo Airlines’ to ‘Alle Remmen Los’ and ‘Hoppa’. They made ‘Cobra 6’, the official BKJN vs. Partyraiser 2026 anthem, and teamed up with The Purge on a remix of ‘Undercover’. On the fast lane they share ground with international uptempo names like Lil Texas.
