Anderex is proof that rawstyle’s centre of gravity may be Dutch, but its talent pool is global: born and raised in Sydney to Chilean parents, he worked his way from Australian hard dance fan to one of Gearbox Digital’s defining artists.

The long way to raw

Anderex found the harder styles at 11 (hardstyle and jumpstyle were the first electronic music on his iPod), but his production journey started in trance. That detour shows: when he switched to hardstyle in 2016, he brought early hard trance sensibilities with him, and his raw productions carry more melodic architecture than most of the genre. He also finished a telecommunications engineering degree along the way - the production precision tracks.

Gearbox front line

Signed to Gearbox Digital, raw’s leading label, Anderex releases alongside Mutilator, Krowdexx and the rest of the roster shaping the genre’s current sound. His style is deliberately experimental (self-described as a years-long search for an unrivalled sound), which has made him a favourite among listeners who want raw’s power without its formulas.

The Australian connection

He is also part of a broader story: Australia’s outsized contribution to hard dance, from S3RL’s happy hardcore to the Sydney and Melbourne raw scenes that keep producing festival-ready talent. For Anderex, the distance clearly wasn’t a barrier, it was a launch pad.
