About Bass Modulators
Bass Modulators built a career on a simple conviction: hardstyle can beam. Formed as a duo in 2007 by Rick Buijtenhek and Roland Evers, the project became one of euphoric hardstyle’s defining feel-good acts - high-energy, melodic and unashamedly uplifting when much of the scene turned dark.
From Indeep to Oxygen
Breakthrough tracks “Indeep” and “The Cube” earned them a sublabel under Tatanka’s wing, where hits like “Quarantine” and “NRGizer” followed. The 2011 move to Scantraxx (the label of Headhunterz-era hardstyle history) produced their imperial phase: “Oxygen”, “Leave The World”, “I Want Your Love”, and “Dragonblood”, an official Defqon.1 anthem made with Noisecontrollers. The duo played everywhere that matters: Defqon.1 (Netherlands and Australia), Decibel outdoor, Mysteryland, Tomorrowland and Q-BASE.
A new chapter
In 2022 the duo parted ways and Rick reinvented Bass Modulators as a solo act, returning to Scantraxx the following year. The euphoric signature is intact: current favourites on HDRR’s tracking include “Higher”, “Mockingbird” and the Hysta remix of “Oxygen” that introduced the anthem to a new generation. The project shares its melodic DNA with acts like Sound Rush and Da Tweekaz, the wing of hardstyle that treats euphoria as a craft.
