Broken Minds carried hardcore somewhere it had rarely been: out of the Dutch polder and onto Spanish soil, and then back to the genre’s biggest stages as equals.

An instant connection

Omar Ruiz (OMI) and Rodri Bustamante began working together in 2014 after noticing an immediate musical chemistry. Two years later the Dogfight Records signing arrived, along with a Best Hardcore Artists award from Fiestahard: Spain’s scene had produced its first internationally credible hardcore export.

Break Your Mind

The 2019 debut album ‘Break Your Mind’ was the detonation. Anchored by ‘Absolute Power’ with Italian heavyweight AniMe (a track approaching 2.5 million Spotify streams) and ‘Braveheart’ with Destructive Tendencies, the album was embraced by hardcore fans worldwide and moved the duo from scene curiosity to fixture.

The booking sheet since reads like hardcore’s complete festival map: Dominator, Defqon.1, Masters of Hardcore, Thunderdome, SYNDICATE, Harmony of Hardcore, Decibel Outdoor - and Tomorrowland, where hardcore’s borders blur into the global mainstream. Alongside veterans like Tha Playah and Evil Activities, Broken Minds prove the genre’s next chapter is being written in more languages than Dutch.
