About Radical Redemption

Radical Redemption (Joey van Ingen from Denekamp, the Netherlands) brought a drummer’s obsession with rhythm to rawstyle and became one of its defining heavyweights.

From drum kit to Hard Bass

Van Ingen played drums from age 10 and worked through several bands before hardstyle production consumed him around 2009. Self-taught and relentless, he broke through fast: a collaboration with Crypsis, ‘Darkness Is Calling’, premiered at Hard Bass 2011 in front of 25,000 people, barely two years after his first experiments. It set the template for a career built on momentum.

Minus Militia and the album era

At Hard Bass 2014 he stood alongside Crypsis and Chain Reaction as Minus Militia, the rawstyle supergroup whose debut album ‘Legion of Strength’ arrived at the end of that year, premiered at the first edition of Supremacy, the festival that would become raw’s home turf. He has since added a second trio to his roster of group work, Marshals of Mayhem. As a solo artist he made the album format his weapon of choice, with ‘The Road to Redemption’ (2017) and ‘Command & Conquer’ (2018) anchoring a discography that treats rawstyle as a body of work rather than a string of singles. After splitting with his long-time label, he founded his own imprint, Redemption Records, in 2023.

The sound

Radical Redemption’s signature is contrast: some of the most aggressive kick design in hardstyle set against orchestral, almost soundtrack-like builds. It is music engineered for the biggest raw stages (Supremacy, Qlimax, the hard end of Defqon.1), alongside peers like Warface and B-Front, and a generation of successors he helped inspire, from Anderex to Aversion.
