Vandal comes from the soundsystem side of the harder styles: a UK producer and one third of the Kaotik Soundsystem, he built his name in the free-party circuit before frenchcore’s festival era caught up with him.

Raggatek’s blueprint

His formula is unmistakable: dark ragga vocals, jungle samples and reggae riddims thrown over a stomping 4x4 kick. That mix made him one of the artists most frequently credited with pioneering raggatek, the style bridging reggae’s bounce and hardtek’s drive.

‘Rolling Paper’ and ‘Rave and Culture’

The 2018 album ‘Rave and Culture’ delivered his calling card: ‘Rolling Paper’, originally surfing reggae-tek waves, later supercharged by a ‘Hard Edit’ with French heavyweight Billx that pushed it toward frenchcore and uptempo crowds. It remains his most popular Spotify track in HDRR’s tracking to this day.

Between scenes

Vandal’s catalogue moves through the same waters as Dr. Peacock and the wider Audiogenic-era French school, while staying rooted in UK rave culture, a crossover position few artists in the genre occupy. Scene neighbours like D-Frek push the harder end of the same French connection.
