About Angerfist

Angerfist is hardcore’s defining modern figure: Danny Masseling, the Dutch producer behind the white hockey mask, whose distorted kicks and menacing vocals turned gabber’s second wave into a global force.

From demo tape to anthem maker

Masseling’s career started the classic way: a demo tape, sent in 2001 to Mark Vos (DJ Buzz Fuzz), whose BZRK Records signed him on the spot and released his first EPs. Those early records appeared under a string of aliases (Menace II Society, then Kid Morbid) before he settled on Angerfist as the main project. His aggressive “nustyle” take on gabber caught fire in the scene, and in 2005 he was handed the genre’s biggest stage: producing ‘The World Will Shiver’, the official Masters of Hardcore anthem. It cemented a relationship with the Masters of Hardcore brand that has defined both ever since.

The mask

The Friday the 13th-style hockey mask began as a shield, not a gimmick. Masseling has said he suffered stage fright and wanted audiences listening to the music instead of watching him. It became one of the most recognizable images in electronic music, and turned Angerfist sets into something closer to theatre: three masked figures behind the decks at the genre’s biggest events.

King of hardcore

The numbers back the nickname. Angerfist has been voted DJ Mag Top 100’s “Highest Hard” artist seven times (including runs of three straight years from 2014 and four straight from 2020), making him hard dance’s most consistently ranked act, and with over half a million Spotify followers he remains hardcore’s most-streamed name. His catalogue spans mainstage anthems to collaborations across the harder styles, alongside contemporaries like Miss K8, Tha Playah and N-Vitral (with Tha Playah, Outblast and Evil Activities he also formed the hardcore supergroup The Supreme Team), and his release pace has never slowed, which is exactly what this page tracks.

Every new Angerfist release lands on the Hardcore Release Radar the day it drops, and his biggest current tracks chart in the Hardcore Top 100.
