Mat Weasel Busters

Mat Weasel Busters is one of the founding figures of French hardtek, a producer and DJ whose reach now spans tekno, frenchcore, UK hardcore and happy hardcore. For decades he has been a connector between the harder styles, as at home in a free-party field as on a festival stage.

An early hardtek innovator

His first releases in the late 1990s hit the hardtekno scene like a jolt: he was among the first to push hardtek to 200 BPM and to build tracks around a heavy ‘kick-bass’. When a French label turned down his ‘Weasel Busters 01’ demo, he waited it out and pressed the vinyl himself, and it became one of the format’s genuine success stories. Later projects like the Yes Papa system with MSD, and the YES! Club he helped open in Prague, widened his footprint across Europe.

The Fant4stik supergroup

In 2014 he co-founded the live hardtek group Fant4stik alongside Billx, Floxytek and Guigoo, which debuted at Spain’s Monegros festival. On stage the four split the work, Guigoo on keytar, Floxytek and Billx on pads and Mat Weasel on the decks and beats, turning studio tracks into a full live show.

From free parties to festivals

His own catalogue keeps that free-party spirit, from ‘La Teuf du Farfadet’ and ‘Asian Tek Foundation’ to ‘Vodka’, ‘Scottish Party’ and the Le Bask collaboration ‘Coca’, with 2025 cuts like ‘We taking b4ck to the oldschool’ keeping him current. On the fast French side of the scene he shares ground with acts like Pitch Mad Attak.
