Psyko Punkz

Psyko Punkz started as two producers folding hip-hop swagger into hardstyle: Wietse Amersfoort and Sven Sieperda teamed up in 2008, signed to the Belgian label Dirty Workz, and built one of the most recognisable catalogues of the genre’s boom years.

Bass Boom and the breakout

The breakout came fast. ‘Bass Boom’ was voted number-one track of 2010 at the Fear FM Awards, the same year the duo won Best New Talent at the UK Hard Dance Awards, and by 2011 they had cracked the DJ Mag Top 100 at #78. Live acts on the mainstages of Defqon.1 and Qlimax followed, and their fans earned a collective nickname: Psyko Soldiers.

The solo era

After eight years, Sieperda stepped away from the act in 2016. He later returned to hardstyle as KELTEK, whose bio picks up that story. Amersfoort kept the name and answered any doubts in April 2017 with ‘Wietse’, the first solo Psyko Punkz album. The output hasn’t slowed since: HDRR tracks over 100 Psyko Punkz releases, with ‘Victorious’ (2019) leading the Spotify catalogue and ‘Hit The Afterparty’ (2022) close behind.

Dirty Workz to the core

Nearly two decades in, Psyko Punkz remains a pillar of the Dirty Workz roster alongside labelmates Da Tweekaz, proof that the label’s fun-first take on hardstyle ages well. The mix of bounce, humour and festival-sized drops keeps the project on lineups from Defqon.1 to Decibel.
